F360 Not Prompting for Version Description/Milestone on Save

I am training someone who is new to Fusion 360. They downloaded the free trial and have signed up for personal use license. Their software title bar still says Free Trial, but I understand that will go away once they have hit the time limit.

The problem is that when we save a design, he is not prompted for a description of milestone. Also, it does not seem to be storing versions of the design. When you go to the version dropdown, it's always set at v1.

Is there a fix for this? I can't find anything in the preferences.

I just struggled with very same issue.  In my case, when I was in Offline mode, Fusion did not prompt for version/milestone on save or close.  It just saved the current version.  Once I was able to go back in Online mode, it started prompting again.  Hope that helps you.

Hi, I am having exactly the same issue, I have tried everything.  Getting very frustrating as I am trying to learn the software and my tutorial keeps mentioning versions.

If you're a new subscriber to Fusion, you now have what's called "Collaborative Editing" hubs. This is the latest evolution of Team Hubs, and there is no longer a prompt to save a milestone each time you save nor is there versioning in the most obvious sense. There is, however, a running history of all your "Save" actions and the dropdown arrow should reflect this. Think of it as along the lines of how Adobe or MS save the document.

Thanks, was hesitating continuing the tutorial in case I needed the version/milestone feature, guess if I do need it, I can just use the history section as you stated.

I haven't found a solution, and will be meeting with my associate next week. I'll ask if it's still happening.

Excuse me, how are we to kow what the changes are to each version if we cant comment or flag as a milestone - another major change to workflow without any consideration for users.

Hi Seth,

Is there a method to switch 'old' team hubs to the newer version? Or will we need to create a completely new hub? This question is regarding a classroom setup; in some classes we have the new hubs, in some we have the old hubs.

@peterBCBJU You will be able to add comments to each save-version through the History panel. [Inspect> History or File > History]
A 'Milestone' is now called a 'Version'. In the end, nothing much has changed really. (It just looks a bit more like SolidWorks every day 😉

Kind regards
