Hello everyone,

I have big problem after recent update. Can't save design. I get info window with scroll list, that mostly say "not latest", and Reserved for main design ( multiple designs inserted). Tried clearing cache- nothing helped.

On other design I get information trough WebUI that some other using is currently editing the file- I'm the only one with access to this fill. Thanks to that, I can't save, delete or even create working copy of that design ( the same apply for first mentioned design) . Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Loosing days of work because of something like that is really not an option. Cloud and online aspect of Fusion 360 is often more dangerous than "unsafe" local only solution.

I encountered the same problem, removing links to other parts did the job.
I had another weird behavior:

There were 3 "inserted" parts, I could unlink only 2 of them and had to set the other one to a "previous" Version.

A workaround which has worked for other users is –

For the design having the issue, closing it and then reopening it after about a min could allow it to Save.

In the meantime, we have identified the core issue and are actively working on the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Found workaround (worked for me, in any case).

My design had dozens of linked files, but the save alert (same that @ckriesi showed) only included four linked files with the "Not Lastest". I didn't want to break the links to these files, so I opened each of the offending files, made some small change to trigger a need to save an update. I then came back to the main design and initiated a "Get All Latest". After pulling in the updated files, I was able to save the main design without any trouble.

How many collective hours of work do we have to lose here?

Same issue here, clearing the cache files didn't help, is there a way to roll back to the previous stable version? I really feel like an issue like this should have been caught in testing before this was ever sent to users.

And while the devs are at it, can't they make the 'save as new version' optional? And the only way i can save at the moment is to delete/break link for my inserted components.

Hi @barry9UDQ6@ArturSzczeparski, @Anonymous, @lacondro@ErikHolley,

thank you all for bringing our attention to this issue. We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Our developers are working on a fix. In the meantime, the following steps should allow you to save the assemblies:

  1. Close Fusion 360.
  2. Go to the local cache folder on the local drive:
  • Windows OS: C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\***\W.Login
  • macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Autodesk Fusion 360 > *** > W.Login
  1. Rename the F folder into _F to create a backup of the local cache.
  2. Open the Fusion 360 project with the affected assemblies.
  3. Click on the gear icon in the Data Panel.
  4. Select "Cache this project".
  5. Wait for the project files to be added to local cache.
  6. Retry opening and saving the assemblies.

The issue is documented in the following knowledge article:

Unable to save a Fusion 360 assembly with referenced files after Fusion 360 update

Thank you for your understanding and your patience.

First time I followed these instructions it didn't work, repeated the process again just to make sure I didn't make a mistake and it worked that time. Thanks for the fix

I also have the same issue. It's completely choked the workflow.

When I look through the list of part/subassemblies that are listed in the saying "saving 0 of X designs", I notice the error differs between parts.

Main Assembly: "Cannot save changes to this design beacuse project members are editing external components."

Subassemblies: "Reservation failed. Try saving again later."

Parts: "Newer version available. Use save as latest."

I noticed with small assemblies, if update and save all the parts within the assembly then update the assembly. It can save. Of course, it'd be a waste of time to do this for all of the large assemblies that contain subassemblies.

Hello All,

I found a solution that worked for me. This issue was driving me absolutely bonkers and effectively wasted my whole day yesterday on a critical client project (that pays a good portion of our bills).

1.) Go to the Text Command line on the bottom of the Fusion 360 window and run the command:

"CloudFileStore.ClearFileCacheForTest"

2.) Close all designs

3.) Restart Fusion 360.

I know devs have a hard job, but there's gotta be some more rigorous debugging before rolling out these updates. In our situation, our business/livelihood depends on the smooth functioning of this software and we can't afford to wait 2 weeks for a help desk ticket.

I, too, am having this issue! It seems as though (across projects) most but not all designs with linked parts inside cannot be saved. Save as also does not work, it will let me save as, but the never uploads(?) the new saved as file (the blue spinny greyed out file goes forever).

I have a public facing project that I can invite support into. @AnandSomani I have invited you and your colleague, please join or not as is most helpful for you.
