Creating sketches in bulk

I'm wanting to create around 30 sketches, each with a serialized name (A1 thru A30 for example)

I would like to know if there's a way to do this in an automated fashion to avoid 5-6 clicks per sketch and renaming each one manually.

Here's why I want to do this in case someone has a better way to accomplish what I want to do:

I have an existing 2D AutoCAD drawing of my home (that I created and have been maintaining and updating for decades before pitching my AutoCAD subscription and deciding to learn 3D with Fusion) with all kinds of details on different layers from Plumbing to electrical to wall layout, etc.

I've imported the drawing into Fusion, which now shows everything in all of the AutoCAD layers in one single sketch.

For the electrical, I plan on creating a sketch for each circuit, copy/pasting the geometry for that circuit from the "All" sketch into each new sketch I make. Which brings me to my question, how to create all these new sketches in a more efficient manner.

Hope this all makes sense and thanks in advance for any advice given

Brad

This is exactly what I am looking for however, what I see looks very complicated to my eyes and may involve more time and energy (for me that is) than just doing them manually.

I'm hoping someone else will have an easier solution. Easier for me anyway.

Thanks for your feed back!

No, it was surprisingly easy and I say that as someone that has ( and in reality still hasn't) done virtually no coding since Fortran 4 classes in 1972! The zip file needs to be unzipped to the correct location and run as a script. I appreciate you wanted a way for future use but I attach my file FWIW

Go back to the Import dialogue,

there is an option to sketch per layer, instead of combine to single sketch.

I have no need for that script, sketches are a foundation, before getting to modelling tools, I build in place.

Fusion and Autocad are worlds apart, convert to Fusion.

Might help….

Thank you davebYYPCU, this actually helps alot. Now I pretty much have my original layer structure and don't need to create all new sketches to organize the drawing.

I can't believe I missed that simple option in the import dialogue. This is the simple solution I was hoping for. Thanks again!
