Combine Function Behaving Strange (cut)

I'm trying to create a mortise by combining the component on the left (below) with tenion as a part of the it's component / body as the 'tool' with the lef on the left side.  The leg starts out as a solid body.  When I combine the two uising the component on the left as the 'tool' it cuts into the leg be extends the cut throug the part vs. just the depth of the tenon (tool).  Why is this?  I haven't had this occur before.

The Forum needs your model to give an effective answer, please attach it.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

It is a long winded explanation so I will let the video do the work. It all boils down to your use a Copy/Paste, to keep the sides identical which I think is a good idea but you failed to turn one of them around 180 degrees so you are combining on opposite faces.  I will not return the model as you have some modifications you really have to do.

John,

Very nice video and explanation.  Huge thanks for taking the time to create the video.  You signature says you're retired.  I think you just work for free now!!!  I learned a lot from the short video.  The learning curve has been a challenge at times, but this helped a lot.

Regards,

Howard
