Cannot stop mouse movement rotating the model

Fusion 360 has just updated to the latest version.

I have two tabs open, a model and a drawing of it.  I was editing the drawing.  When I clicked back in the model tab and started rotating the model, I found I couldn't stop.  I tried pressing ESC, right-clicking etc - no good, whenever I move the mouse the model spins.  Eventually I closed the tab, without saving; when I re-opened the model the mouse started working OK again.

Why hasn't this been fixed yet?

There is no excuse for this, much less for it existing for 3 years.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.

Just to be clear, are you responding to this post because you switched document tabs, and then the mouse is rotating the model? (like this post describes)

Or are you posting because this happens during some other workflow?

I ask because we've identified, recently with the help of the forum community, one way to repeat this issue. We haven't had time to fix it since we learned the steps. In short, if you are orbiting and your mouse pointer (while invisible) ends up on the model browser area, it will continue to orbit.

The customer figured out that dragging the view cube will unlock the orbit.

This could be made worse for some customers if they keep their browser in a widened state, or have a small monitor.  Do you adjust the browser to be wider, or do you have a small monitor?

Thanks for posting, and thanks in advance for any answers you can provide. If you are experiencing something other than what I describe, or if you are getting the same issue as the original poster above, please let me know to help ensure we are looking at all the options here.

This problem is more than two years old and still an unresolved issue.

Anyone at Autodesk reading this? Please fix!

Dragging the view cube to the center works. But it's still annoying.

That sounds likely to have been the workflow. I am not sure if that is the only time it has happened (it happens frequently) but when I posted, I definitely had a second tab open. I will keep an eye on this.

The posted fix is the same.

I have my monitor @ 3456x2234 and Fusion 360 with a full screen sized window (but not full screen— running Mac OS).

Same here, and home button freezes up too. I’ve never had these problems when I first started using Fusion 360. I’ve been using Fusion for 4 years now and this shouldn’t be happening

Just to clarify. I said when the (invisible) mouse pointer position ends up landing on the "browser" window, orbit becomes stuck.

If you have dragged the right hand grip of the browser to make it wider, this will happen more often. This is because the orange box I drew on the image above will grow when the browser is wider.

It's truly amazing that there continue to be regular posts of thanks for this "solution" (workaround) and yet still, after more than 8 years, NO MOVEMENT AT ALL from Autodesk to actually fix the bug.

Could there be anything more shameful?

Another, very easy, way to trigger this issue is to click the orbiter, then move the mouse to the right towards the edge of the screen and keep moving it, then let go. Anytime the mouse is moved "off screen" while using the orbiter and released, the orbiter gets stuck.

It's SUPER frustrating when using Fusion 360 on a laptop.

Still unresolved.. 🙄

To avoid having to restart Fusion, you need to click on a face of the cube again, hold down the button and move the cursor off the screen to the right, then release the button. It works really well.

This also happens when I try to select multiple edges in my model to apply a "fillet" with SHIFT and left-click on the edge, rotating the model to gain access to another edge, SHIFT and left-click on the edge, rotating the model... You get the idea.
