Hello,

i had fusion as a trial now i'm ready to pull the trigger and buy 2 licenses one at my vacation cabin ( no internet) and one for my office. Now my dilemma is that it requires Internet which I dont have at my cabin (on purpose) Is there a way around?

If i do subscribe do i "own" the software or do i "rent"it? If not well then i have to learn Solidworks 😞

Fusion is a Cloud based application and must have access to the internet to run.  If you do decide to get internet access at your cabin, phone hot spot by chance, you only need one subscription license since you have only one Autodesk ID and it uses it in wherever or on whatever computer you are working on.  If you have two Autodesk IDs and want to run Fusion using each at the same time, then a second license is needed.  You will need to read the Autodesk Licensing Agreement to determine the "ownership/renting" question.

Hi jhackney1972,

Thank you for your quick response.

Based on this information, it sounds like Autodesk is not the right fit for
me. I prefer not to be tied to a cloud-based application that requires
continuous internet access, and the model of subscription-only software is
a source of frustration for me. Subscription fatigue becomes real like
tipping a vending machine

Thanks again for the clarification.

Best regards,
Rene

Almost all software is subscription based. It would be news to me that Dassault Systems offers perpetual licenses for SolidWorks. I share that frustration, but the enshittification of the Internet is a disease that has also infected most of nowadays CAD software.

I sent you a PM.
