Browser gets stuck on wrong monitor

Hi all,

Another problem relating to dual screen use...

I have noticed that quite frequently (2-3 times a week), when using two monitors (one for fusion, often used full screen, the other for reference info), the brower often ends up stuck on the wrong screen.

For example, I have a big external monitor plugged into my laptop, (macbook pro). I have fusion up full screen on the secondary monitor. Sometimes, the browser gets lost, and appears on the wrong monitor, and the only way to rectify this, is to close and re start fusion. It happens a few times a week.

This is hard to demonstrate with a screenshot so I have just taken a photo of the two monitors with my phone. As you will see, the browser is hovering over the laptops screen, whilst fusion is displayed full screen on the secondary monitor.

I have noticed that when this happens, the menu that pops up when right clicking on something also appears on the wrong screen, instead of next to the cursor on the big screen.

Please fix,

thanks.

Thanks for using Fusion, Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Maybe you could give it a try with the workaround of Reset layout command available here.

Also listing out the shortcut here for ease of your use: Command + shift +R (Mac)

Hello,

I am having the same issue, and your solution does not seem to work. The Browser stays on the computer screen instead of the monitor regardless of wether I use Reset Layout or not.

Best regards

Guillaume

@sasikanth.kollipara I am experiencing similar things as well (mid-2017 MacBook Pro). They are obviously hard to capture in a screencast, otherwise, I would. I am experiencing a host of issues when working with an external monitor.

In my case, none of them require shutting down and restarting Fusion 360.

In isolation, none of them is a big problem, but they really need to be addressed before issues get out of hand and turn off users.

1. I use spaces (or whatever this macOS feature is called these days). When in Fullscreen mode I see the browser appear in a 2nd fully black full-screen space, which I can see if I swipe over to int using the trackpad.

I usually get it so show up back in the actual Fusion 360 window, but don't remember ATM what exactly  I do.

2. Also in Full-screen mode on the 2nd monitor, when clicking on the screen settings icon on the bottom of the Fusion 360 screen, the menu folds out to the bottom, but it does not seem to appear on any monitor.

3. When I star Fusion 360 on the laptop screen and then pull it over to the big screen, then pop-up menu windows show up on the laptop screen and not in the Fusion 360 window.

I use the computer screen and the external monitor in an over-under configuration.

I have the same issue. My screens are arranged with the external monitor (BenQ QW2780) positioned above the laptop. (13" MacBook Pro 2020)

The browser menu seems to randomly appear on the laptop screen, not the external monitor I'm working on, this means a shut down and restart to be able to work on a project.

The Layout Settings and Grid and Snaps menus will also appear on the laptop below. This is not as much of an issue for me, but I would assume, not ideal for some.

Reset to Default Layout does not fix this problem.

Same problem here. I recently switched to fusion 360 and I keep experiencing the same issue as described above. Full screen or not, screen reset, closing browser and opening again, nothing seems to work.

This is costing me a lot of time and happens multiple times a day. Actually takes so much time that I'm not sure of fusion360 is suitable for professional use, because I cannot have my clients pay for the lost time.

What worries me the most is that the first complaint about this is more than a year old and it doesn't seem to be pickup up at autodesk. Please tell me you guys are working on it.

This is pretty useless, the developers don’t read this. It is only for us to vent our frustrations.

This is 100% reproducible on the latest version with a single monitor on a MacBook Pro.

1) Open Fusion 360

2) Maximize the app (green button)

3) Close the lid to sleep

4) Open the lid

5) Observe the browser on the main desktop while the app has its own desktop

I've been using Fusion 360 for a total of about two hours after a couple years off and this has already happened maybe 10 times. It's hard to believe the developers don't already know about this one.

Three finger drag over to the Fusion 360 full screen app desktop fixes it until the laptop sleeps again.

This whole issue is completely ridiculous. I’ve been an auto desk user for 30+ years and this thing has stressed me out for the last five. Is frustrating when sometimes you can’t get the menus back to the screen that fusion 360 is open on. Granted not many people probably use three monitors but I do especially with desktops And it is very very annoying

Done that a few times with no effect:

If you're using a mac sometimes opening quicktime (not actually doing anything with quicktime, just literally opening the quicktime application) temporarily resolves this.

Hi, guys. It seems I found a solution that works in my case, so probably it will work for some of you.

My setup: 14” Lenovo laptop + 27” monitor.

The problem was the same – almost every time I switched screens or launched fusion, the browser ends up stuck on the wrong (main laptop) screen.

Reset to default layout helped but until next alttab.

What I found out – fusion has a feature where you can drag the browser to the side, then appears a green line and if you let the browser tab there it will stick to the side.

Also in windows you can place your monitors anywhere relative to ich other (right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings", then click and drag these monitor representations)

So when my main monitor was on the same height with the upper left corner of my second monitor this browser-bug appears, and when I tried to drag the browser to the side, it doesn’t triggered the green stick-line.

But after I changed a bit position of my main monitor to the lower left corner – this problem has gone. Browser sticks and stays there.

And just my suggestion - it seems (at least in my case) when the transition between main monitor is above the place where is usually the browser tab on the second monitor – fusion interpret main monitor as a part of the second and place browser and comment tabs somewhere on it

Thankyou @paul_krylov_90 you deserve to be accepted as a solution for this.

Nothing else worked for me except positioning my right screen as detailed by @paul_krylov_90 so that the browser hits a hard stop(if you like) and cannot fall left on to the other monitor. DAH DAH!

I am suffering with the same rogue browser issue. Running fusion on left hand monitor and browser keeps jumping over to the right hand monitor.

Never had this issue before in many years of running fusion with 2 monitors. Only started happening when I got a new PC that is now running windows 11?

Tried to change the display settings as shown in a previous post ( display settings, drag LH monitor to line up with bottom of RH monitor)the but both monitors are the same size.

Also no matter if windowed screen or full screen, there is no sign of this "green line" to dock the browser to. Is there a magic trick to make it appear.

Seems like this browser thing has been an issue for a long time. Guess I was fortunate to avoid it until getting my new PC. Now its really annoying!
