I have designed and built a coffee table using Fusion 360. I have done both a model and the CAM work for cutting out the pieces with a CNC router. Now I want to make similar end tables, a sofa table, etc. I want them to have all similar proportions and stylistic resemblence to the original coffee table. The coffee table is parameterized for length, width, and height which are the main things I want to vary. I would like to think there is some way to create a "collection" of CAD/CAM work for these table that makes use of the similarities and the parameterization already done. However, so far I have run into trouble trying to do it and am looking for some advice.
I thought "derive" would be the best route to go, but when I try that, the parameters in the derived model are frozen. I am reluctant to just copy the model in case I decide to make some change that should apply to the whole collection. I am open to a technique that results in multiple components in a single design, or multiple designs in a single project. I just want to set the parameters differently for each version. I will eventually need to set up the CAM work for the different variations as well. It would seem natural to use different parameters to control the variations in the models as well as the fixtures, stock, etc. that are required for the CAM work. What I want to avoid is having to set values of the servral parameters every time I want to work on or even view a specific version of the table. What is the best way to accomplish this in Fusion?
