Can anyone help me understand why when i set the helix ramp to tapered i get this error? The tapered angle is set to 12 degrees. If i ramp with helix and without taper, i get no errror. I watch the simulation and there's nothing touching.
I've attached the file. It's the first toolpath that i'm talking about. It takes about 5 minutes to generate btw...
Thanks!
Ok. i think i found out why i get rapid collision with stock errors on my tapered helix ramps: it doesn't have enough space to make the tapered helix in that pocket, so it makes the helix shorter and starts from inside the stock, so it rapids to the start of the helix inside the stock.
I also added 2 finishing passes and i get one shaft collision with stock, although i have unchecked shaft in the simulation and one rapid collision with stock.
-For the shaft collision with stock i have no idea why i get this error.
-For the rapid collision with stock i think it hits the stock when it rapids to the next cut, but i don't know how to avoid that. Shouldn't it calculate the distance and avoid hiting the stock when doing rapid moves?
A lot of the crashes are the cutter plunging into the material first pick, the one in your second pic looks like there is a tinny bit of material being hit in the blue region.
Adding bigger leads and transitions should get rid off most of the plunges.
