PathPilot Tool Table to Fusion 360 Tool Library

I have an extensive tool table loaded into my PathPilot controller and I'd like to import it into Fusion 360 to be able to use it and if I make any changes then export it back to PathPilot. PathPilot exports CSV but Fusion but the only text format file that it will import is TSV (Tab Separated Values). In theory I could use Excel to convert between the two but to see what Fusion was expecting I exported the tool library from one of my projects and opened it in Excel and the result is sort of tab separated (some values are tab delimited and some are space delimited. Fusion can also export to JSON but when I try to open the file with Excel, it displays basically nothing. Do this?

@tmostad Currently the only way I believe you can do this is by using .tsv format. Excel will not be able to handle multiple user presets though.

I have asked a member of the development team about .json files as Excel does not support the import of it and there does not seem to any other platform that does.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

@tmostad Also, in the new tool library you can copy and paste individual/multiple tools from Excel straight into the desired library.

If I open a blank workbook and click Data->Get Data->From File, one of the choices is "From JSON" as you can see below. However as I said it doesn't seem to import anything.Ashampoo_Snap_Wednesday, January 6, 2021_12h00m22s_002_.png

@tmostad After speaking to a developer I have had clarification that there is no way to import the .json file directly into Excel. It maybe Excel that it does not support the format in it entirety. The only way to import and export is with .tsv but the columns need to exactly the same on export as import for this to work.

Again, it will not deal with the presets. All cutting data will be unpopulated. If you are exporting from your machine you will have to add a GUID value to successfully import into the tool library.

Not sure if this helps.

If you are struggling to import and export a .tsv this is something that I can help you further with.

Thanks
