i have a attached a sphere on a shaft in fd3 format.. I would like to machine the spherical portion. shaft is immaterial except that its easy to hold in a collet.
i need help choosing the turning tools as well as setting up the machining sequence.
i tried a couple of different approaches.... the all seem to split the sphere in to front and back halves. It seems that a circular insert could cut the whole thing .... however any setup that would run on a 2 axis lathe would be most welcome. one or more tools is fine. i would like to get a decent finish at the equator.
