I am making a snail puzzle with an eye that is a spherical shape cut in with a fillet around its perimeter. The snail mouth is a groove cut in with a ball cutter and a fillet around the top surface.
All the other features are being cut out with 2d profiling tool paths.
All attempts end up getting the pupil cut out but none of the lead in profiling.
So how do I profile the areas leading into the eye and the mouth groove?

Have you tried Selection as the machining boundary, and try Tool Containment set to center. You can select an inner and outer boundary if needed.

Edit You might have the heights set wrong, I think you'll have to upload the model as it could be a few things. From the file menu select export then set the file type to f3d and save to my computer then attach to this thread.

If it says it has no toolpath your problem is probably the minimum ramp diameter.
Since I bet the ramping is set to helix in(Last tab.).

Can you export the file and attach it will be something very easy to show you if I have the file. Go to the file menu select export set the file type to f3d and check save to my computer then attach to this thread.

The e-mails suggest you can reply by e-mail and attach things but that doesn't work for some reason.

I had been attaching it to the responding emails. Here it is attached directly to a reply

A few problems.
First your stock size is wrong and as it's too thin there's nothing for the 3d op to machine.
To fix this select the stock you've made a componant for.
In the op uncheck the Model tick box and set containment to centre.
File attached.

Also don't use the Model in the op to select surfaces you want to machine.
Either use a containment Boundary or use Avoid\Touch Surfaces.

Mark,
I put a construction border around the cut and select that as a boundary. I think my issue was back on the last tab it talks about stock left for finish. That value was larger than the cut. So it was not cutting.
Thank you for your help

Laurens,
Thank you for your help.
Yes the helical pick for bit entrance was selected. I changed it to plunge and continued. I believe my issue was the pick where is asks for stock remaining for finish.
That value was larger than the cut I was attempting to make. Therefore it would not take the cut.
Thank you
