How would you machine this part? 3 axis router

How would you machine this part?  Specifically the top surface and the pocket on the top surface.  I have a 3 axis router.

Hi @Cave_Master

It looks as if you've got a pretty good handle on this.

Personally, I like using ball nose tools when milling contoured surfaces.  I feel like they give me a better, consistent surface finish and consistent stock removal.  Obviously, to get the sharp corner in the pocket, you will need to use a flat endmill or a really small ball nose tool.

If you can get away with leaving a small fillet at the bottom, I'd go with the ball nose route.  You can do multiple offsets with the pencil strategy to work your way in from the remaining material.
