Flat toolpath not ramping

The Flat toolpath isn't ramping, I've checked the box, unchecked and rechecked with helix, profile and zigzag. It just plunges. I'm using a 2.5inch surfacing bit with replacable inserts and, hence the centre 40mm has no teeth so plunging is not at all suitable. I've selected a specific surface to machine as well as just limiting the top height to try and see if it fixes the problem but no luck.

Hmm, interesting. I'll try to look at this some more tomorrow.

That said, if you're machining this part from solid (based on your description), I would not be using the Flat toolpath, but favoring the 2D Pocket toolpath instead.

Hi

If you reduce the Lead-in Vertical radius to less than the Ramp Clearance height it appears to work correctly

Ah, well that's a good enough work around. Must be an order of operations on the programming side?

Thanks for the solution!

I tend to need about 100 of these pockets of various sizes per sheet and so its a matter of me being lazy and not wanting to click 100 pockets every time. 😅
