chamfer strategy for a slot on a tapered turn

Can anyone coach me on the proper way to machine the chamfer this key slot on a tapered turn? I've been able to create a trace to "sort of" chamfer it. We have serveral parts with this same feature but this process was rather tedious and i am wondering if there is an easier way.

when i select the contour i get this where it pulls the geometry in a straight line instead of the angle.

Hi @mike_miller515,

The Trace operation is exactly what you need to make a chamfer when the edge is tapered along the Z-axis.

I made 2 scenarios so you can choose which one is best for you.

The 2D Chamfer or 2D Contour operation can only be used on flat areas.
