8055T POST WHICH IS IT G17 or G18

Hi, trying to get a FAGOR 8055T lathe post to work. Which is what between G17 or G18 for the lathe? The Fusion360 FAGOR post for turn gives this as a header. I believe it needs to be G17 (Main plane X-Y and longitudinal Z) and not G18. Any thoughts as it gives an error at line N21?

See example attached.

%TEST TURN PROGRAM,MX,
;O001001
N10 G90 G95 G18
N11 G71
N12 G151
N13 G92 S3000
N14 G0 G53 Z20.

N15 T1 D0
N16 G29
N17 G54
N18 M8
N19 G95

N20 G97 S208 M3
N21 G0 X140. Z21.

@Anonymous

What is the error you are getting ???

Basic two axis Lathe runs in XZ configuration as shown in your image, that would be G18.

X moving into the material and Z moving along the material, even in a multi axis Lathe then the G18 for the profile cut in your image looks right to me, going in and out following the profile in the X and moving longtitudinally in the Z axis 🙂 🙂 🙂

Stay Safe

Regards

Rob

Hi, thank you. I'm getting an Soft X axis limit error. As my X & Z axis parameters (P5 and P6) are set correct as per the manuals.
