VERIFICATION COMPLETE

Hi all,

Does anybody know when this 'Verification Complete' notification was introduced and what is going on in the back ground before it pops up?

Because I am having serious lag issues on even simple simulation jobs that I was not having before I noticed it, and the lagging stops after this notification vanishes. It's been happening for a while, first chance I got to post on here.

I've done all the usual, dirver's, re-install, removed resource hugging software, etc.

Please help as this lagging is affecting productivity a lot. Thanks in advance.

This has been around for 2-3 releases already.(maybe more)

Basically it runs through and collision checks/verifies the whole simulation.

Unfortunately it uses the same  CPU resources as the actual Stock simulation(and IPS calculation) so If you start the simulation as  soon as you enter it it chugs along pretty slowly.

Best to wait until verification is complete before starting the simulation, although this can take quite some time.

You can see the verification progressing along the top portion of the toolpath timeline, it goes from dark grey to light grey as it progresses

There is work being done to improve the performance in this area but I have no details on when we will see this

Thanks a lot for the quick and concise information.

To be honest I never even noticed the grey bar before! To busy stressing about why everything was chugging around so much, spent 6+ hours yesterday polishing my machine thinking that was the issue.

I really do hope that they can sort this issue out ASAP because it's extremely time costly and spoiling my usual workflow.

For me I don't need this option, I like to see the whole simulation, or just individual tools simulation. Hopefully they can put a check box in preferences to turn this off.

Another thing I found out yesterday is how damaging this 'In-Process Stock - Mess Check Safety' is to my workflow and productivity, I only found that whilst stressing through the preferences.

Hi

There is no way to turn verification off unfortunately, I do prefer it though as it is much more accurate at detecting issues than the old stock simulation.

I just went and checked the mesh safety check and it seems to on by default now, I don't remember turning it on

The tooltip specifically mention NOT to turn it on unless experiencing Stock related crashes

AAhh thats why CAM simulation has been slower than normal.
i wondered what had changed, was it fusion, was it my PC?

i unchecked "in process stock mesh saftey" and now it runs smooth as butter again 😃
thanks @a.laasW8M6T

PS. i also Prefer the Verification.
it doesnt take long to load a whole program for me.
about 10-90sek tops.

I see that you have "Stop on collisions" turned on. When that is ON, simulation will refuse to progress past where verification is. It can feel like simulation is playing slowly. But what it is really doing is repeatedly pausing in order to keep behind verification.

If you turn that option OFF, then you will be able to simulate the whole toolpath before verification finishes.

Hi, @brekmiller

Unfortunately for me even with 'Stop on collision' turned off  I still get the juddering until roughly about the time when the 'Verification complete' window appears. If I don't make any changes or regenerate the tool paths then the simulation will run immediately with no juddering.

If I make changes, regenerate or I 'Clear Cach data' it will force the issue every time.

I am pretty convinced this issue has only started since the verification was introduced as I have always used 'Stop on collision' without waiting for anything. i.e. waiting for verification to complete.

Verification has existed since at least 2015. You have always been able to see it (and control it) by going to the "Info" tab and scrolling to the bottom. Most people never noticed it though.

The behavior of Stop-on-collision making simulation stay behind verification is new. That's why were making verification more obvious with the grey veil on the timeline.

Ah, this probably explains it. After you regenerate a toolpath, Fusion will start recalculating the in-process stock (IPS) in the background. IPS calculation, aside from using CPU time, uses the same stock-simulation engine that simulation uses. There will be some contention.

Try opening the "Task Manager", it's in the "Manage" group on the tool bar. The task manager will show you any running generation or IPS tasks. Is simulation smooth when the task manager shows that there are no tasks and juddery when there are IPS tasks running?

You can go to the "Utilities" tab and under "Actions" turn off "Automatic In-Process Stock Generation". Then when you edit toolpaths, Fusion won't create lots if IPS tasks and simulation should be smoother immediately.

@brekmiller sorry for the slow response yesterday was my RDO.

In reponse to your satements:

  • 'Verification has existed since at least 2015. You have always been able to see it (and control it) by going to the "Info" tab and scrolling to the bottom. Most people never noticed it though.' - I never noticed this issue until the last few months, possibly only on certain jobs(see Below)
  • 'You can go to the "Utilities" tab and under "Actions" turn off "Automatic In-Process Stock Generation". Then when you edit toolpaths, Fusion won't create lots if IPS tasks and simulation should be smoother immediately.' - This has never been an issue for me as I have always waited for IPS generation to complete(full green tick icons) before running simulation.

I have run some tests and using the task manager I am noticing different behaviors:

RAMP PLATE - TEST: When generating Setup1 there are a lot of 'Aborted' states noted and IPS seems to be calculated very slowly, running on slightly after the last full green tick icon appears. (Pic of task manager attached) then when simulating the grey veil on the timeline is also very slow and easily caught up by the simulation.

MOUNT - TEST: When generating Setup3 the IPS is calculated smoothly and at an acceptable speed, and the task manager completes logically and smoothly in sequence with the full green tick icons. When simulating the grey veil on the timeline is very fast, not noticeable by the simulation.

INSTALL TOOL - TEST: When generating COVER Setup2 the IPS seems to be calculated smoothly and at an acceptable speed according to the full green tick icons, but the task manager although without errors runs on after the last green tick for a long time(26secs). If I wait for the task manager to finish the simulation is OK; otherwise not. If I jump to the simulation after the last full green icon shows the task manager is still busy(no errors) for a further 32 seconds after the grey veil in the timeline has completed(before I press play on the simulation).

I really appreciate your help with this as some jobs are taking far too long to get through with these issues.
