Tool Library Viewer

I know this is going to be asking for a lot, considering the price point of Fusion...  but, wouldn't it be nice if there was a viewer for the tool library, so that the operators and machinists could see the tools on the floor, without having to buy another seat just to view the tools in the library? (viewer only).  I tried the web view thing, but it only shows the library file, not its content.  Is there a way?

Hi @DarthBane55,

We build a lot of different tool libraries into the post-processor with all specific information the customer wants.

This will be placed in top of the NC code.

So a viewer is for those customers overkill.

Sorry, this is not really what i am after.  We can print the setup sheet, all kinds of things to view the tools for any given job.  But I would like to have access on the shopfloor to the entire tool library (use Fusion as our tooling database).  Say a tool breaks, and it happens that unfortunately, the tool was not re-ordered, and we ran out, I want the machinist to look thru our library and pick a replacement, instead of physically going thru all the drawers in the tool room.

Hi @DarthBane55,

OK, that explanation makes more sense.

I can only say AGREE!!! 😉

Maybe I should have mentioned that we have roughly 2500 tool assemblies pre-defined in a tool database, but it's not the greatest, so if Fusion could help there, it might be a viable alternative, possibly.  Ideally, having only 1 tool database would be better (not an external database, and then re-create all the tools again inside Fusion).

Hi @DarthBane55. Accessing tool library data outside of the Fusion 360 client has been on our minds for a while now. The new tool library preview is built using web components, so it’s possible we will have a tool library-like experience in fusion team via browser, which all of your shop floor people could view with varying levels of view/edit permissions.

This is something I was wondering about too. Our operators are constantly struggling to find tools as well.

It would be great to view the tool library in a browser.
