Thread problem

I'm trying to make an internal 22X1mm thread for the 1st time, but something is not working.

I bought this tool from McMaster

 Thread Mill for Internal/External Threading, for 5/16" Minimum Thread | McMaster-Carr

and created the form of the tool in the tool library but when running the simulation, the tool is not cutting. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

@jcsantilli

Your tool and thread programming is spot on from what I see, the problem is that you didn`t leave enough "Stock to Leave" on the Pocket and the Bore, consequently there was nothing left for the Threading tool to actually cut 🙂

Have a look at the attached file and you will see the values I set in the Pocket and Bore, you will have to adjust those to suit, I will leave you to "tweak" everything 🙂

Thank you Engineguy,

The problem is the hole diam to make a 22x1 thread is supposed to be 21mm. If I leave a .03 stock to leave obviously the hole is not going to be 21mm. I'm guessing you need to play with the stock to leave according to the material of the part and thread engagement that you want.

Don't forget Pitch Diameter Offset. If you're using the minor diameter of a hole or major diameter of a boss/cylinder (something the hole tool does) then you need to supply this. (normally equal to the pitch)

Definitely, I'm going to experiment first.
