Stability Issues...

Anyone else having serious stability issues? Prior to a few weeks ago, I could count on one hand the number of Fusion crashes I've experienced, and those I could always point to something stupid I was doing that lead to it. Now, I seem to be crashing at the least little thing. Go to Model, change a small feature, go back to CAM and click on the Setup. Freeze and Crash.

Open up an Operation, zoom in to select the proper chain. Crash.

Select a bunch of operations and CTRL+G. Crash.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this. You guys all know I love the software, so this isn't a rant, just more a plea out of desperation......

Crashes like I've been experiencing really make me want to just put my big boy pants on and step up to Inventor/HSM. As I look towards the coming weeks/months and I prepare myself to go full-time for my own shop, I need to know the software I'm using will be stable and won't cost me time and money. While I feel a certain sense of loyalty to this product, it needs to do what I need it to do. That's not super cool 5 axis toolpaths, that's not the latest and greatest modeling strategies, it's simply....stability. You don't have that, you don't really have anything. "Yeah, it's awesome, when it works" doesn't sell any "real" shop on the software. You want to break free of the "#Fusionisatoy" mindset? Stability, across the board would be a great place to start. I'm sorry for the sharp words, and I mean absolutely no disrespect to the development team and those that lead them. Great deal of respect for all of you, even more so after meeting many of you in person @ IMTS. Please don't consider this a personal attack.

Although I haven't experienced many stability issues (not using Fusion day in and day out like many here), I have heard from at least one person about them who is not active on the forums, especially dealing with moderate assembly size. This is a pretty big issue.

@al.whatmough @Tianq

Any news on this front?

I think there's a similar problem with files that use parameters, see this thread. My guess is when a part is regenerated from parameters or loaded as an external part the face and edge IDs change so the CAM losses track.

And someone from support should contact @ARTHUR-HM and take a look at his design especially as rebuilding the model without parameters seems to fix the problem, see this post from the thread link above.

Seth, same here. The first day back and it crashed while Clicking on operations to view the toolpath. Maybe 5 or 6 times. Average day.  I never touched the space mouse when it crashed. But, everyone experiencing this crash, that has commented here, has a Space Mouse Connected.

This week, I had a random job where I had to got to a Machine shop and program their machines. Fusion didn't crash all night! 7pm - 3 am.  I didn't have my Space Mouse.

I wish we could track the exact workflow to recreate this crash. I can't figure it out. There must me something behind the scenes causing it.

This Bug showed up with the Update that change the way Fusion used the Space Mouse. Coincidence? I think not. ... But I could be wrong.

I have been using Fusion full time for about a month or so. I rarely have any crashes. Probably less than my old software. I do not use a space mouse, so I can't comment on crashing with those.

The parametric issues @HughesTooling mentioned above are definitely real. And because of that, I've had to stop designing with parameters all together to ensure that our machinists don't have a bunch of issues every time they pull up a part to post. They're already cranky about me switching out to a whole new software lol.

I LOVE fusion, so I hope a lot of these issues are cleaned up. When it works, it's light years better and more enjoyable to use than my old software.

There have been a few complaints in the Design forum about crashes if you use a space mouse so it's not confined to the CAM workspace.

@al.whatmough How does one gain the title of Autodesk Expert Elite?

Can I get a tag for Autodesk Amatur Ordinary ? I would rock that tag

Thanks, Seth. I don't think, "extraordinary contributions" really captures my bug reporting posts. I think I fall under the "Stop Making contributions" category.

I deal with this crash thing daily.  Automatic recovery at 5 mins isn't enough sometimes.

Its especially bad when selecting geometry.

@bmxjeff, check the CERs you sent recently, mainly tracked with two tickets FUS-26607 and FUS-27414. The first one was marked as solved but appears still can happen. I reopen it. The second issue is in progress, which is related with another thread - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/can-t-complete-design-because-of-constant-cra...

@LibertyMachine, it appears that FUS-26603 is not solved, and kinds of reports with that CER bucket come up recently. I reopen the issue.

As those CER issues cannot be reproduced in development environment, it is possible that the fix does not address the issue. Once the issue is re-opened, it can be investigated again.

One follow up. Just find that the new reports for FUS-26603 and FUS-26607 are still from the old Fusion version before Sep. 7th update. That is, the issue can be solved by Sep. 7th update.

@friesendrywall, did you send CER reports when the crash happened? Or do you have one report ID?
Thanks,

I sent CER for some of them, but close to half don't even get there, I have to close it down manually.  I don't have any ID's, but I did send a couple in today.

@friesendrywall, email address written in the CER can help search the issues. Can you provide it?
Thanks,

Thanks. I find two reports submitted today. UP-31301 is logged to track the issue.

Funny finding you here.... I have crashed 8-9 times so far today, all in the CAM workspace, but so far I am yet to track down exactly whats triggering it. It does seem like every-time it crashes my left hand just moved the space mouse.... I have submitted quite a few reports but sometimes those don't even come up.its definetly starting to get annoying, doesn't seem like its been this bad in a while.

@bensbenz Were you clicking on the operations to look at your tool path or edit the ops? Us power users and our SpaceMice are messing things up.

Has anyone here tried uninstalling their space mouse to see if their crash issues change? I have a friend who has had stability issues on his desktop and laptop, but only uses his 3D mouse on the desktop. I haven't had any stability issues on any of the 3 PC's I've used today, two are Win7 and my laptop is Win10. No 3D mice at all though.

Yeah, I unplugged my SpaceMouse and had no problems for 8 hours. Plugged it back in, and I get a crash. But, if I edit ops slow, it's more stable. This is a tough one.
