Hello,

 

This has happened a few time but its so rare to actually catch it in action and get a picture of it happening.

I've attached photos of my problem.

 

the tool path that 360 is setting out looks correct. There doesn't seem to be any spot in the program that it would take the endmill and ram it into the part we are making. But yet randomly in the middle of the program it takes a hard left a shoots into the part. 

 

if someone could help us with this problem we have been having it would be greatly appreciated.

This looks like a dogleg rapids issue.

 

What machine and post are you using?

Machine is a Haas-TM3, so we are using a Haas post processor.

In the post dialog you should have a property "use G0" is that set to no, it should be.

A dog leg move is where instead of moving in a straight line from point A to point B, the machine kicks both axis motors on max so the machine makes a 45° move then finishes the long move. But when moving at a feedrate the machine goes straight from point A to point B. This is very common on HAAS machines. Because of this issue HSM has an Always use high feed option on the linking tab.

We are going to take the G0 out and run a test part we will update to see if it fixed the problem.

CHANGE G0 IN POST TO NO, LOOK GOOD

I am glad that fixed it.

 

As Jeff metioned, the other option is to Force it in the software.

 

The "Use G0" parameter in the post is our FAIL SAFE to catch any Rapid move that moves in more then one Axis at a time is converted to a highfeed move.

 

This insures you will not get dogleged rapids.
