Hi,

I want to machine this part.

Can it be done on a 3 axis ? if so how would you do it ?

If it needs 4 axis etc. could you also tell me how to do it ?

Can it be? Somewhat, I suppose. Anything you do with a mill is not going to produce the bottom of that groove as it appears on the model. Since the floor of the groove is running parallel with the outside of the part, but the wall are vertical, your only option would be to either violate the walls with a Flat endmill and use a 4th axis, or use a ball endmill in a 3 axis, but then you're left with corner fillets from the ball.

Sink EDM would be the way to go if you need the features as they're modeled.

With a 3 axis and bullnose cutter what machining strategy would you use ?

I'm happy to change the design a little as it is mostly aesthetic.

Scallop would likely be my first choice
