Flat Strategy leaves skippers

In Fusion the end of the Endmill is completely flat but in reality, endmills will typically have a little dish angle. 

This creates a problem with the fusion Flat strategy when the tool path leads in, makes a little loop smaller than the endmill diameter and leads out again. 

Because, if the little loop is smaller than the diameter of the tool, then that area was cut with the center of the tool which has a dish angle and thus leaves a little bump in the surface whish should be flat.

The only way I have found to get around this is to set the 'Lead-in Linear Move' equal to the tool diameter.

I hope this makes sense. 

Is there a way to fix this? I think the Flat strategy should take account for this somehow.

Or use an end mill with wiper flats, like these: 3 Flute, Square-40° Helix, Variable Pitch (helicaltool.com) .

Thanks for your reply however, that's actually what I am using in this case, but just because an endmill has a wiper flat doesn't mean it won't have a dish angle.  Virtually every endmill on the market will have a dish angle.

Hi @da_fish,

I am sorry you have run into this issue. The flat strategy should have code to identify "small" cuts like this and extend them to cut from an adjacent pass. This was principally added for non-center cutting tools like insert cutters but should work in this case as well. I am not sure why it isn't working in this case.

If possible could you share the part (you can dm me with it). I understand if this might not be possible due to confidentiality.
