Doosan Mill/Turn post issues

Hello all,

I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to get this to post properly. I keep getting the following failure log

Machine is a Puma V8300m. I do not have a y axis, so I edited the post to disable y axis.

I'll attach my post file, as well as the f3d.

Any recommendations on different tool paths or strategies are more than welcome.

Thanks all.

Hi

That type of toolpath unfortunately requires a Y axis to machine in that orientation(using a radial tool)

You can mill using and Axial tool and the XZC mode  but you would need a much longer tool.

Do you have the Manufacturing Extension? if so you could use rotary pocket to rough out and Geodesic to finish with a 1/2" ballnose

See attached file

I don’t have the machining extension.
Is there a path the would allow me to mill the square using an endmill constantly feeding down in Z, moving in and out in X while following the contour in C?

I haven’t been able to figure out what path to use to do something like that.

Hi

Yes there is but you would need the Extension to do it

The geodesic path can do it with a ball nose, like what I attached but you would also turn on Spiral

You can do it with Flow, Blend, Steep and shallow too, using a Square or Bullnose(Geodesic only allows Ballnose/lollipop), there's a few tricks to get these to work in 4 axis only

But again you need the extension

Oh and Rotary parallel too, it has a spiral mode, that should have been the first one I mentioned haha
