Cutoff Back Chamfer - Without Pre Cut Clearance.

Is there a tool path that will do this? I already cleared out the back with a different tool. All I want to do is chamfer and cutoff without it making a clearance cut first. I tried using a Finish turn profile path but it will not let me use a grooving tool for turning. (Gave me a error). I know its trivial to modify the code after post, but that gets old if its a common occurrence.

You can use the parting operation with "edge break" turned on.

I appreciate the response, But I asked if there was a tool path that worked that did not have a pre clearance cut. The cutoff with edge break is what I am currently using and I do not want the pre cut clearance.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. Have you tried using the grooving operation with just finishing passes turned on?

I did, but it kept giving me an error and kernel crash.

I revisited the grooving option and found I needed to push the back plane past the back of the part plus the cutoff width and it generated a path for me.

Well it seems its not perfect. It will not cut below the ID stock no matter what. It always stops short of the ID. Like the groove programming is forced to never have a zero or negative wall thickness.

The cutoff section would be ideal if you were able to toggle a clearance cut or not.

 

I think the lathe operations need some TLC.
