CAM Trouble with updated feature "Avoid/machine surfaces"

Hello. Can anyone help with the new updates to "avoid/machine surfaces" under 3D parallel CAM settings? Ever since the latest software update, I am unable to get the tool to completely avoid certain selected surfaces. (See my pics)

Im using a .25" ball nose end to finish this guitar neck. The tool continues to rise up an over the "non selected" flat areas of my part.

Give it some Axial clearance on the  "Avoid" group. Result:

I dunno, there has got to be a better way. It worked perfectly before the update

this way is better when you learn it. Select a new group, set it as avoid, and don't forget you can still use Boundaries.

I get the same results. I already had a group that was set to avoid, but the tool still rises up and over the boundary to avoid. How do you use boundaries? I don't understand why this is so difficult now.

Contact point boundary should be enabled about 99% of the time you are surfacing!

Then set it to tool center

Thank you. I tried it and got these strange loop jumping lines a the top edge of the part

That comes from your tolerances and avoid distances.
