Bug Report - Visibility Breaks Toolpaths

Chugging along just playing with some toolpaths in an assembly (oddly enough it was actually found in the Gearbox Complete sample) and had to check with one of my own parts:

It can be seen that not all part visibility triggers this but at least some do. Most annoying.

Woah, that is super annoying. I am glad that it didn't fully break the toolpaths (you CAN regen them and keep going) but I wouldn't want to be doing that long term. Good catch

You're right, I should've said Invalidates Toolpaths, but hopefully this gets some attention.

This is table flip worthy. Noted I will get something going to resolve this.

I don't do a lot of assembly work. 99% of my CAM is done with a single piece on screen. However, I did have one back in August that involved a fixture and a part, as well as all the programs for both items. Changing visibility does not seem to have any effect on them. I'm curious what conditions led to this being the case for @Steinwerks

Sadly, I can't publicly share the part, but involved parties are more than welcome to hit me up and I'll get you what you need if any comparisons need to be made

Thanks for catching this @Steinwerks!

That shouldn't be happening. I'm trying to reproduce this issue on my end but I can't get get the change in visibility to invalidate my toolpaths. Can you share the model with us please? I'd like to see how you have it setup. Soon as we identify a reproducible workflow we'll get this logged!

Thanks!

There is a faulty file in the CAM Samples, "Gearbox Complete". The toolpaths are already laid out and everything. Just turn on/off visibility and you will see it

Alright guys, Thanks for pointing this one out!

Figured out the cause of the issue, and got this logged as CAM-5436.

The issue is actually with the joints in the model. It seems fusion during a visibility change, causes Joints to send out a transform change notification that invalidates the toolpath. Got it logged in the system now though, so hopefully the dev team can patch this one up! For parts with lots of operations (like the CAM example file), the regeneration time can really eat up a lot of time.

Here's a quick gif of the issue and the workaround.

Thanks for the info guys!
