2D Chamfer tool path not generating - help

hello guys, I have looked at all the threads on the subject and I can't figure out why I am getting the errors and why this is not generating? 

Can someone please take a look at the file and indicate where I am failing (at CAM life) ?

You have your chamfers modeled. The [Chamfer] operation is for when you have no chamfers modeled. You can either delete your modeled chamfers or use the [Contour] operation to create your chamfers.

What you suggest works... 
if I want to do an offset with the contour to avoid exiting geometry like you can with the 2D chamfer, is that possible?

according to the help selecting the bottom edge should work.

I am not sure what you mean by that. Personally I would just delete the model chamfers. I does not matter for your simple example but where you have more complex geometry the Chamfer operation is nicer because you can set it to avoid crashing into the part as well as an offset to cut with more of the side rather than the tip.

Well yes, the simple part is what I posted as an example. I am not about to throw real parts on the internet..

The point is, that I am wondering if the help file needs to updated to reflect what you are saying.

I tried it and in my simple part the contour works, yet the 2d chamfer doesn't.  maybe someone will have time to look at the past I posted and help me understand why it is not working,

Hi @crullier,

I have always got Chamfering to work selecting the top contour of the chamfer.

I will have a look at the help and see if we need to make some adjustments.

Is that the Help page for the Contour/Chamfer or Chamfer only?

@seth.madore  yes that information is found when you click the "help" icon on the tool path options. See below.

As others mentioned, the 2D Chamfer works if I select to top edge but I have to input the angle.. if it is modeled this is counter intuitive. Maybe the help needs to updated to reflect the proper use of the tool ?  

however, it is nice not to loose the "anti clash" offset or model awareness this tool brings and to now had to do it by hand in the contour tool by using negative path extensions.

Yes, it would appear that you are correct in suggesting that the "Help" for the operation is wrong saying the bottom edge should be used it appears to be outdated and should be corrected IMHO 🙂

Richard@Richard.stubley  is correct, the top edge should be used and it does also now correctly offset to avoid an area where there would be a collision, see image below and attached example file.

P.S. I don`t see what you are saying about setting the angle ????
