2D adaptive rapid's into part

I am using the Tormach post and in the gcode I rapdid into the part and I am not sure why.   See lines 120-140

 

Clearance is set to Origin +1.2

Retract is to set to Origin +.5

Top is set to Model top.   But I rapid all the way down into the part.

Is the top of the part supposed to be a positive .2379? How far was it trying to go past that point?

Would you mind exporting the .f3d file so we could take a look at it and see where things might have gone wrong?

To export: File, Export, Save to Computer on a location you know (I like desktop folder)

Come back to the forum and attach it

A lot of this is going to depend on how you set up your heights, your entry, and the stock. This is not your post, it's the CAM. As @LibertyMachine said, it'd be necessary to see the part, or a dummy part to which you've duplicated the exact same toolpath.

Sure, here is the part.   I've used another product for years and just trying to get into the Fusion360 way of doing things.

The top of the part is supposed to be at .3, but I see it's a little higher that that.

If I do 0 offset into the part I get this:

N130 G0 Z1.
N140 G0 Z0.5
N150 G0 Z0.2379
N160 G1 Z0.2191 F12.

 

If I do .1 offset into the top I get this which is a little better, but I cut air for a while.

 

N130 G0 Z1.
N140 G0 Z0.5004
N150 G0 Z0.3379
N160 G1 Z0.3191 F12.

Accepted solution

Because of the way you selected your pocket, the toolpath thinks you have a hole in the middle of the part into which to plunge (much faster than the helix entry). But you don't.

 

If you select the border edge of the bottom of your pocket as your Stock Contour it no longer makes this error and you can see the helix entry in red:

Hey Kevin and Steinworks,

 

We are having almost the exact same problem with generated gcode rapiding through our part (2 holes located an inch apart from eachother). The wierd thing is that it does not show the machine rapiding through the part in the simulation. Was this the same for you as well?

Honestly I'd suggest starting a new thread since this isn't a 2D Adaptive issue. It's difficult to see what's going on exactly. Can you share the part or is that verboten?
