Set quote as the default from a script

When I run a script that copies quote information over from the item details tab to the sourcing tab, I get the following warning message on the sourcing tab:

However, the scripting documentation says the following:

Therefore, unless I'm missing something, the warning message will always be there for any quote added via a script, and if the user wants the correct cost to be included in the BOM, they will always have to specify that the listed quote is the default quote.  This should not be the case.  I should be able to have write access to the choice of the default quote.

Hi Tim,

Presently, it is not possible to set default quotes via scripting. Same goes for API as well. Reason for this absence is three-fold:

1. We actually plan on enhancing this area of the product in future so we want to err on incorporating and adding functionality to scripting once we harden the new approach, and not prior that.
2. Changing a quote’s default flag has implications on existing BOM cost planning that consume that part. To support setting/changing defaults via scripting, presently we would need to interplay a costingOption flag as well. Eg. setting/changing defaults via UI offers the UI user a choice of:
   1. NO, do not modify any BOMs
   2. YES, update all existing parent assemblies
   3. YES, but only update parent assemblies that use the previous default quote.
3. Changing default quotes on released item/bom revisions has additional implications onto Working revisions’ sourcing info. Another do/donot apllyToWorkingRevision area to consider when exposing r/w for default quote in addition to costingOption

All in all, we have some homework to do to get to a point of evaluating enabling defaults via scripting and API. And once again, we would like to request your input when time comes.
