Please add the ability to specify a filter on any of the available columns directly from the column list.
A column has to be displayed before a filter can be set up on it. This is really inconvenient; normally a simple filter means you don't need to see the filtered column in the list view, so I typically need to open the column list, find the column, display it, set up the filter, then hide the column. Repeat if any changes are needed. This is less flexible than the Classic UI method.
This could be indicated as per the attached image, with active filters in green as now, and fields with no filter in grey. Clicking on any filter icon would display the filter edit window.
