Hyperlink Fusion URL in Excel always open two tabs in browser.

Greetings:

I keep my ECOs status in a spreadsheet.  When I create an hyperlink in Excel which basically is my Fusion ECO # URL and click on the cell, Chrome & Firefox always opens two Fusion tabs.  The first one is my Fusion ECO page and the second is my Fusion home page.  Chrome and Firefox always jump to my Fusion home page and I have to manually close it every single time which is a real pain.  Does anyone run into similar situation?  If so, is it possible to prevent this to happen?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I can reproduce that too. Both classic and modern. It's not Excel opening two pages, it seems to be the item details page causes the dashboard page to load (it cycles through the signon page). Don't know why.

Anyway, I changed my default browser from Chrome to Edge, and Edge also had the problem.

I read some link on the web suggesting "change the Windows default setting from Chrome to Edge, and then back to Chrome, and the problem goes away."

That seemed extremely unlikely to me, but I did try it, and it is now working for me (to my surprise) !

In Windows 10, go to Start, type "default apps". Hope that works for you too.

You do know that you can create an FLC report on your ECOs, execute this whenever you want, to discover the actual status?
In the HTML report viewer window, if you click on the spy glass in the left column, it will open that page to the item details for that row.
That might work better than maintaining an Excel tracker?

Thank you for your time to look into this.

I follow the instruction by switching to Edge and back to Chrome.  In my case works for the first and one time only.  Subsequently if I click on the hyperlink cell, it reopen two tabs.  I try to switch to Edge and Chrome again to no avail.  Do you experience similar behavior?

As the ECOs status in a spreadsheet, I find it more convenient  as I can have a general and quick view of all my assigned ECOs along with their detail status, instead of digging into each one separately, for the date Engineering tasks submitted, what stage (CA, IR,  Approval etc), related ECOs (such as specification to be released, fast track, waiting for other ECOs to be released etc), what is the hold up (such as artwork, other materials to be released on another ECOs etc.)

I try the spy glass for an existing report create by other colleagues and nothing shows up.

If it were you, how would you create a report to shows all of your assigned ECOs along with the its current status?

Hi, it worked for me and seemed to carry on working, but I didn't test it for long. I don't know why the behaviour appears related / affected by Windows default app settings. I'm guessing it has some effect on whether the authentication headers are passed, which affects whether a newly opened tab seeks re-auth.

It might also be sensitive to your pop-up blocker settings too. I know specifically the pop-up blocker will prevent the spy glass from working.

Try disabling the pop-up blocker completely.. if that works , enable it again but add an exemption for the tenant site.

I reckon if you can get your spy glass working then your original problem goes away too.

Final thing to try... Change the setting in chrome which blocks/allows in-page analytics. Whatever it is set to, change it and restart chrome.

remember you can report on entries in all tabs

There are a few different options to get data out of FLC when you cannot get it from a single FLC report.. . They all depend on the rest API to execute the report to generate XML. Or JSON.. You can do this also directly with a bookmarked browser URL and save-as XML.

But joining multiple tables of data, well a BI tool.can do that, or being it into excel with odbc driver, whatever your technical skills are. Ask your partner if you need help.

(Few people know Excel can open an XML file directly , just accept Yes to auto create the schema. )

Hopefully something above helps.

Your time is greatly appreciated for helping me with this.  Do you think this is something that Fusion team can look into and maybe provide a fix?

Anyway:

- Try pop-up blocker as instructed, still no luck for the double tab.  Only the spy glass is now working.

- "blocks/allows in-page analytics" seems to be an extension which I don't have.

I copy the spreadsheet to an email.  Clicking on the link by simultaneously holding "CTRL" button open only one tab.

I contact our IT.  After trying everything with no result, in a final attempt they run MicrosoftEasyFix50655 and it seems to resolve this issue.

Thank you all for your time and help.
