When is the library fix coming

As my question says. I am waiting for an update to make the libraries more user friendly. I am a long time eagle user so the transition wasn't actually that strenuous for me. I have a lot of frustrations, i.e. that design blocks have gone.

However, that is another discussion.

I was doing a stand up tutorial for my colleagues and it struck me that I spent more time excusing bugs and shortcomings of the software than I did teaching my colleagues.

This is not a good state of play for a professional software package.

I went to an Autodesk seminar a while ago and a "overhaul of the library system" was mentioned but it was never gone into in depth.

What will this update entail and are we waiting weeks, months or years?

I absolutely ok with you, I already post many messages, sent many mail,  but no reply...

Except Jorge and Helen who helps a lot but who does what they can,  and who in my opinion is a simple messenger.

thanks to them.

What a pity...

Are you on Mac or PC ? because I have a CAM PREVIEW from many months.

Best and thanks I thought I was the only one with these problems.

PC

What does the Cam preview entail?

It just seems to me that requested features such as design blocks which seem like an obvious use of a user generated library have been swept under the rug.

Hi Robert and thanks for your prompt reply.

I have a snowing CAM PREVIEW problem (see the screen capture below) since a few month update, the problem is on my 30 iMacs and my MacBookPro and a little MacBook Air 2009 (I am teacher in a UK University).

I must to be alone across the world to have this problem because no POST about it, and the Technical Team don't understand what's wrong, so that I can't use the CAM PREVIEW and the 3D RENDERING since 3 months 😞 I use DIPRTRACE for do that !!!!

What do I regret EAGLE 😩 😩

Fusion is a good idea, there is many interesting think but not finish, The most big problem is the LIBRARIES !!!! 😤 too complex, not really intuitive, and with many bugs, I wast many time to understand if it's I do wrong or if this bugs...I even lost many projects because this LIBRARY problems but not feedback from the Team, "all is ok for the Fusion Team"

The people who helped me and for whom I have great respect are Jorge and Helen, but no messages from the high authorities of the team about these bugs of libraries, which waste our time and which causes great stress, each time I open Fusion the only question for me is,  can I finish the project today ? this si not serious...

This is the reason I am "happy" to discover that I am not alone to have this same library problems.

I am TELECOM Engineer, I know how works a satellite, but not the Fusion library management.

Here the problem I have :

I am looking for a person who have this problem, because It's impossible I am alone across the world to have this bug, and especially on 32 Computers.

Best Robert and thanks It's nice to see that I'm not alone ...

I remember seeing this before actually, just needed to jog the memory.

There are a lot of good features within Fusion electronics but I agree, some simple QOL stuff is missing and there is very little reply with regards to whether features are coming in the next update, the next year or even never.

At a basic level, I can use the software and get boards ready for manufacture but it takes a lot of effort and extra steps.

All the best with the CAM preview being broken but I would imagine it is a low priority bug

Message 6 of 19

Hi Robert,

Really ?  if your memory come back about this CAM PREVIEW please let me know.

Have a good  holidays and keep in touch...

Best Robert and thanks

Hi Ritchie,

I meant i remembered seeing the forum post before. I have never actually seen the issue manifest itself

Message 8 of 19

Oh ok sorry for my bad understanding...

Best and thanks

I can only agree.
The library support have always sucked, but in Fusion Electronics the madness have risen to new heights.
I managed to have several versions of my library. A local, a team one, a managed one, some named WIP something or so.
And, of course nothing worked. My board still kept using an earlier version that wasn't even listed.

But, today, I just found a magic button (or menu choice actually), on Manage tab , "Unlink from managed library on library.io".
Whoooah! The freedom!

Hi Jesper,

Thanks for your reply, I am "happy" to read I am not alone..

I had this same problem with many headache !!! 🤕 I think I tested too this function but I must admit to you I don't know what's this button do !! but I will test again and I let you know.

The manage or cloud library is a good idea but not finish and not convenient, why FUSION TEAM don't do a VERY SIMPLE local place for put all the library we need and we want !!!!!!!! ?????

Another problem with the library and I think most grave (I lost one month project) is if you open your project on another computer THIS IS THE WAR !!! FUSION don't link the libraries you used...

What a pity because there is many interesting think in FUSION but not finish, I hope that all this will be corrected in future versions, well,  if there are any updates because big radio silence from the team about these Bugs.

Best my friend and thanks to see I am not alone and not crazy.

ave a good holidays

I have found that Fusion team libraries try and link to old library.io libraries and despite unlinking them, it still tries to use them when hitting update library. This is a problem as those libraries appear to be stored locally and Fusion team on my colleagues account can't see them, breaking some designs

Message 12 of 19

Hi Robert,

Yes I see that too, but the most annoying 😤☠️ is the yellow exclamation point when you try to update your libraries.

A satellite link is more easy that the Fusion libraries management 🤣

Hope they will correct and simplify on the future updates. NOT REALLY SURE 😩

What a pity...

Best Robert and thanks for share, where are you and what's you job ?

Message 13 of 19

Yes, after I have unlinked, I still see references in the library to footprints and packages on library.io.
New stuff I create, are referenced as Team.
I wish there was a way to completely disconnect from library.io, it's still messing up things and block me from doing various operations, it seems.

The optimal would of course be a revert to COMPLETELY local libraries.
That would solve all problems.
But I guess they'll not let go of the money pig once they've caught it.
I regret just having paid for another year of pain.

Hi Jesper,

Yes this completely erratic and not really logic, may be a good idea but more simply.

COMPLETELY local libraries !! this is my dream " I Have a dream" 😩 but why this obstinacy with the management library ? who use and like this philosophy ? I think not many people.

We are the customers, we are the better beta testers, we know what we need, Why isn't the marketing team listening us ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Yesterday I discovered that FUSION is more quick and reliable when you are OFFLINE !!

Thanks Jesper where are you ? what's your job ?

I understand, to some degree, WHY there is managed libraries.
It makes sense, in about 1 out of 20 cases, I guess 😉
The rest of the world use Git, Subversion or other ESTABLISHED tools for version handling.
AND, keep the physical ownership of our files.

But companies wants us in the cloud, of course, so, when first there, there is no way back. You have to pay to have access to your files. Admittedly, you can, to some degree download them, but will loose all history. (Which I think you have already lost by using managed libraries).
Cloud storage for files this way are sadly the future. The corporations have seen the glimmer of gold and are not going to let it go.

I have been a freelance electronics developer and embedded systems programmer for 30+ years.
Semi-retired, but working for old customers because it's fun. (Well it used to be, when EAGLE was working).

Thanks for your reply,

I completely agree with you but what a pity, I works in the TELECOM industry and for a UK University who I teach the High Frequency satellite Link, sometime my boss don't want that the projects we develop with the students are in the CLOUD because it's confidential, I think many CAD company like FUSION will lost many big customers for this legitimate reason.

What I don't understand is that FUSION or other CAD company are the better developments companions, so why don't more listen us about our needs ?

Yesterday I try to explain the library management to a French Polytechnician friend, He didn't understand anything, Which still reassured me 🤣.

Keep in Touch Jesper for the news adventures !! hope so.

Best and have a good holidays.

I have been fiddling with using F360 ECAD for a year or so, but during this last month I have had a fairly serious board to design with a looming deadline.  It has been a complete nightmare - and much of it has been because of the horrible library UI and level of bugs and inconsistencies.  I agree that a library manager overhaul is long overdue, and I have to say that ECAD is simply not useable as a commercial tool at this point.  Lots of potential, but awful execution so far.  It is where Altium was 6 years ago.  I guess I will have to go back ...

What a pity...

Hello Everyone,

This is something we are making steady progress on, but it's a huge undertaking to overhaul the library experience. It's literally overhauling 1/3 of Electronics (being conservative here). As things get closer you'll be able to see some of that labor bear fruit.

I wish I had something to show you right now.
