Team Library Components Not Seen by all Team Members

I created a series of single-component libraries from Mouser Eagle .lib files and STP files. Everything looks great on my PC, working online.

My engineer, Marty, brings the design on his PC, and the design is OK, but if he goes to open a component he is told the component cannot be found.

Library_Error.JPG

All of the library components are Team Components:

And we are both on the same Team:

So I do not know what I am doing wrong to get the libraries synced between my team members. Do they need to be in a specific folder?

Any insights on how to make sure my Team Library Components are available to all Team Members would really help us out.

Thanks!!

Hi @chris_cummingsDT,

I hope you're doing well. Make sure the Marty has put that library into use. If he doesn't put the library into use then the Open component command won't work. This can be done by going through the library manager.

Everything else looks OK.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks, Jorge!

So, Marty or any other team member has to manually activate a library in the Team? I think I would expect all team members to see the same level of use and activation for Team libraries. Part of being a team, right?

Hi @chris_cummingsDT,

This happens because every team member can customize what libraries they want to see in the place parts panel. That's why it's not automatically put in use. All team members should have access to the libraries.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

What do you think of a Team Management option called "Activate and Sync Team Libraries Across All Team Members" where the Team Admin's account sets the libraries the users can see and defines which are In Use and which are not.

This would save me countless hours trying to keep out Marty's old Eagle libraries from Sparkfun and Adafruit, none of which have 3D models (at least not his Library.io and local hard drive copies).  It is hard to remotely manage that when localized to each user.

It could be a horrible idea, when viewed from your larger scope of users.

Hi @chris_cummingsDT,

I hope you're doing well. I'll pass that idea up the chain, I think it's a good idea. The only difficulty I see is that it's probably going to have to be developed by the team that handles Fusion Team management.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Jorge, I have an update to this issue.

We went back and tried to make sure that ALL Team Libraries on both Accounts that belong to the "DT_Engineering" Team were in "In Use". They already were, so we were confused.

I picked a couple of capacitors that I had added to a buck regulator circuit. All the work was done in the Team library, since I wanted to edit the footprints to get the NAME and VALUE outside of the part outline and off of each other, and add a 3D model for each Component.

A couple of examples:

But when Marty goes to search for these 2 TEAM libraries on his PC, he does not see them at all!

(sorry for the reduced clarity from Marty's Skype Screen Share Capture).

We tried listing with In Use and Not In Use both checked, but that made no difference.

I do not know what we could be doing wrong to not have the Team libraries show up in the library managers on both systems in the same DT_Engineering team.

Hi @chris_cummingsDT,

I hope you're doing well. The both accounts thing worries me, are you saying you have multiple hubs? Libraries don't cross hubs so that might be the problem.

I'll pass these to the developers for review to see if they have any suggestions.

Hi,
In the top right there is an import button, and you can Import from Fusion.  If you select the library there then it should show up in your manager (and all the other UI).

Note that what you see in the manager is not necessarily the same for all team members.  New libraries should show automatically but sometimes they get missed.

Hi @jorge_garcia ,

Hmm. Multiple hubs. I need to find out what a hub really is.

We have 2 seats for our 2 users, Marty and Chris (me) and he is in NY and I am in GA.

Only one team, DT_Engineering

I tried to reply in Outlook, but I guess that is not allowed (duh! It says no-reply, LOL!):

Hi @Taylor.Chris ,

Thanks! I will be sure to try that. As for "In the top right corner" are you talking about in the Library Manager?

Message 12 of 12

Hello @chris_cummingsDT,

That is correct, it's inside the library manager. Let me know if you need any more help.
