How to mirror a pcb

Hi

I'm building an audio amplifier and my project uses two PCBs, one for each channel (L-R).

I've built already the right channel pcb (attached), components, traces and all, there's a way I can have a specular copy of the pcb, at least of the component placement only?

or a way that I can import an image of the inverted layout and manually place the components according to the image?

Thanks, Matthz

Hi @Matthz,

I hope you're doing well. So the first thing I would like to confirm is if you have any special enclosure requirement the forces the need for a mirrored layout. Normally, you just use 2 copies of the same layout one for each channel. No need to redo the layout.

With that said if you really want to do this, select your layout and then do a mirror. You'll see that EVERYTHING gets mirrored. Go ahead and place the copy. Now select only the components then in the Inspector set the Mirror option. All the components will now mirror in place. Finally select all of the traces and then do the same thing.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your instructions, you say to select the layout: how? I can select everything in the PCB space but then the mirror function doesn't work, I can only select a single component to mirror so it becomes awkwardly time-consuming.

Please be more specific

Hi @Matthz,

I hope you're doing well. Select the entire PCB. Then activate the mirror command then hold ctrl (or CMD) and right click on a component on the board. This applies the mirror to the whole selection.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
