How to flip the components' position (top and bottom layer) of the board?

Hi Fusion community,

I pushed my PCB to a 3D PCB model and realized that the arrangement of the electronic components is completely inverted (top and bottom).

This is the current arrangement of the 3D model, which is incorrect:

Invalid Orientation (Bottom)Invalid Orientation (Bottom)Invalid Orientation (Top)Invalid Orientation (Top)

Invalid 3D Model (Top)Invalid 3D Model (Top)

Invalid 3D Model (Bottom)Invalid 3D Model (Bottom)

The figures above show the incorrect arrangement. Instead, the 3D PCB model I am aiming for should look like below:

Valid Orientation (Bottom)Valid Orientation (Bottom)Valid Orientation (Top)Valid Orientation (Top)Valid 3D Model (Bottom)Valid 3D Model (Bottom)Valid 3D Model (Top)Valid 3D Model (Top)

Basically, after flipping the board's top and bottom layer, the design will be correct. What should I do in Fusion to ensure the 3D PCB is generated with the correct arrangement?

I tried the 'mirror' function and it doesn't work because I am not mirroring the components, I am trying to tell Fusion that from this particular view, the top and bottom layer are correct.

I am very new to PCB design, so any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @s_phamTESZU,

I hope you're doing well. So for the polygons, you can just go into the polygon properties in the inspector and change their layers so that they are on the correct layers. You will likely have to mirror and rotate some of the components if they are on the wrong side of the board.

That's all there is to it.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Hi @jorge_garcia,

Thank you so much for answering my question. After referring to your response, I successfully managed to place all the electronic components in the correct positions in the 3D PCB file:3D PCB file, adjusted components' layer3D PCB file, adjusted components' layer

However, I realised that I couldn't do the same for the polygon. I proceeded to make these adjustments in the 2D board file instead.

Switching everything on the layer seems to require a lot of effort. Thus, I wonder if there's a way to adjust only the polygon in the 3D model file? At the moment, I just need an accurate graphical representation.

Thank you so much for your insight. I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,
Sean

Hi @s_phamTESZU,

If only the polygons are a problem it's not hard to fix that in the 2D PCB. Just select one segment of the polygon and change the layer of it in the inspector. Then the whole polygon will switch.

There's no way to do it in the 3D PCB. If you need to swap 2 layers you can use the cmd-swap-layer.ulp that comes with Fusion. You'll find the ULP icon under the automate tab in the 2D PCB editor. Click it and in the dialog that pops up select cmd-swap-layer.ulp.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
