CAM processor - again....

The CAM file selection drop down menu of the cam processor is a mess.

It has a useless default selection.

And due to the STUPIDLY long path names, the "Recent CAM Jobs" completely obfuscates the menu, by overlaying other options, that cannot be selected without some serious mouse-fu.

@jorge_garcia

1. How can I make MY file come up as default, instead of "template_4_layer.cam", which I will NEVER use?

2. HOW can I clear/edit that list and remove those 3 long entries, which I will NEVER use?

Then there are those example and template suggestions, which is all the same.
And, redundant.

@jorge_garcia
3. HOW can I edit these entries/get rid of them/put my own files there instead?

The only entry I have some control over, is the "Local CAM Jobs->cam", which seems to be the files in the directory chosen in "Preferences".

Preferences itself is a disaster - it's clearly a straight take-over from EAGLE, with NO Fusion options added whatsoever.
This needs MAJOR work.

Hi @jesper8W75R ,

I'll pass this along to UX to look at how these dialogs can be improved. It's likely this will be handled as part of a bigger project since this CAM UX has been around since mid V8 of EAGLE.

To answer your questions directly:

1. Currently not possible but will have a solution pretty soon.

2 and 3 are not possible right now and there is currently no immediate plan to change this.

Like I said I'll pass this along to UX for review.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

@jorge_garcia

#3 I can probably accept, the stupidity of having redundant, useless information fits in good with Fusion Electroncis.

But please consider #2. Most programs have a "Clear Recent Files" option.

Any progress on these issues? It's frustrating to have to go in and set up your CAM jobs each time. I'm sure its been solved, but I haven't been able to figure it out, and I don't want to waste time if it already has been addressed and just poorly documented.

All I want is to be able to set up a CAM Job and save that job as a template, with my own "MYCAM" name, and easily access that from the Templates menu drop down for my next job.

Hi @mad.macs,

I hope you're doing well. So what you do now is go ahead and create your CAM job the way you want it and save it. Once saved you are going to see a button at the top that says, "Set as active CAM job". The button makes the CAM job the default job that way it automatically loads.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
