Cable, harness and wiring diagrams in Fusion 360?

Hi,

Is or will there be a cable and harness tool for Fusion 360? I can create lofts but ideally I'd like something that can be used to generate wiring diagrams as well. Is Inventor best if our designs mostly include electronics and wiring together?

currently there is no such tool available in Fusion 360. There are thoughts about having this extra functionality, but I do not know about fixed planes or timelines at the moment. IMHO it would be extremely helpful and great to have all the wiring/cables/harness stuff in Fusion.

I agree, it would be good to see a roadmap for these kinds of features if there is one?

From some reading it looks like the answer is to use Inventor if you want to do this type of work. Fusion should be for small projects where the parts are 3D printed and/or generatively designed.

I would totally disagree.  The whole point of Fusion is to be an integrated environment for product design (among other things).  It has mechanical design, visual rendering, simulation, manufacturing, and now PCBs.  Cabling and wiring diagrams are just as important as the other elements.

No, not right now.  And it probably won't have it for awhile since there are so many other things for AD to do first.

So for the time being Inventor would be the only (Autodesk) option.

If wire harnesses with wiring diagrams were implemented it would be an absolute dream come true!  I'd never look at another CAD program ever again!

YES, I think this is ESSENTIAL now that 3D Modeling and PCB design are integrated! 

I wish that all the time and effort that went into other non-important features like 3D Slicing/printing , went into more needed features!

Can somone from the Fusion 360 respond, if wiring harness design is already in the roadmap?

I think this is really a big part missing, making Fusion 360 to a allaround solution to go.  Near every machine nowadays needs some form of cable assemblies.

Unfortunately, there are no current projects underway to support wire harness design in Fusion.  I agree that this is a needed addition, but, as you probably know, there are lots of "if only Fusion had X" additions that are needed.  We're moving as fast as we can...  This one is near to my heart, because in a past life, I worked on a wire harness design tool myself.  There is an opportunity here for some enterprising add-in developer to use the Fusion API to implement an add-in to fill this gap.  If only there were 48 hours in a day. 😀

I hope you're doing well. Thanks for the bump, for now there are no immediate plans to implement this. If you need the wiring harness functionality right now, this is currently available in AutoCAD Electrical.
