Meander tool doesn't show trace length for any traces

In Eagle when you clicked on a trace with the meander tool it would show the trace length and a percentage, like:

103mil
100%

However it seems like Fusion360 doesn't show this information, just the percentage:

MeanderBug.JPG

As you can see in the above box, only the percentage is shown. I need to length-match the SQI data traces in this board design, but I don't see how I can get the trace length? Clicking on a trace length and hitting "Properties" only shows the length of that segment, not the overall trace.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something obvious that shows me a trace length like Eagle does?

It seems until this bug is fixed, you can use the "run length" ULP to get the length of any trace, then you can use the Meander tool to adjust the other traces to match. Just be careful as the "length" ULP provides the measurement in MM, even if your grid setting is on mils.

It would still be nice if this bug were fixed though. I can't just open the board back up in Eagle since I have the Standard Eagle edition and this is a 6 layer board in Fusion.

Hi everyone,

I've made a bug report for this and the developers will be working to get it resolved.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thank you Jorge...

I believe the text is actually there, just the little pop-up window color is wrong. In Eagle the little window is white and the distance is displayed in black and percentage in green. In Fusion360, the window is black, so the green text shows up but the black text does not. This is probably solved by making the little pop-up window white (or the text white).

Hello @rbeyerCLBSZ,

That's correct and that's probably what will be done by devs.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Any updates on if and when this will be fixed?  I do high speed design and this is a critical capability (and a rather embarrassing bug or lack of QA).

Hi @dchallisJREXA

I hope you are doing well!

Sorry about the inconveniences.

The meander issue is a known issue, and I will double confirm with our develop team about the fix plan of this issue.

And as I know, the black background issue of Meander command is a Windows Only issue. In Mac, the background color is OK. You can have a try in Mac to see if it works well for you.

I will keep you updated when I get more information.

Panpan Fan

Hello

First, thank you so much for the quick response to my problem report. I
look forward to seeing a fix for it. I want to stress, that the meander
capability is crucial to high speed pcb design and is a fundamental
requirement for a professional pcb layout too, which I assume Eagle/Fusion
360 is attempting to be.

Second, I know you meant well about you comment about it working on a Mac,
just not with Windows. But to be honest, it is rather irritating.

Let me remind you that:

“In the area of desktop and laptop
computers, Microsoft
Windows is the most commonly installed OS, at approximately between 77% and
87.8% globally. Apple's macOS
accounts for approximately 9.6–13%,
Google's Chrome OS is up to 6% (in
the US) and other Linux distributions
are at around 2%”. Source: Wikipedia.

I do not own a Mac and moving my development to that platform is a rather
naïve approach to resolving a defect in Autodesk’s product. PCB layout is
part of my profession. I make a living with it. This is not a hobby. When
paying full fees for a product for professional use, I’d expect a more
professional response to dealing with defects.

I’d appreciate an update on this issue once the fix has been added to the
release calendar.

Best regards,

Hi @dchallisJREXA

Sorry that my comment may confuse you about the OS issue.

As an internal description, sometimes we may use Mac Only or Window only to describe the issue so that the developer can save their time because the developers need to reproduce the issue quickly. The description can help them track the issue more easily avoiding using the wrong OS.

And I totally agree your comment about the share of Windows and Mac OS. As I know, most Fusion 360 users are using Windows. I just check our tickets system and find that the issue is marked as Windows Only. I hope that you can continue to finish your work if you have a Mac as a workaround. Sorry that it may confuse you. For us, any issues in any OS should be fixed. We need to do that.

And I will also keep you updated when I get more information from the develop team. Thanks again for your comment and sharing!

Regards,

Panpan Fan

What is the status of the correction of this bug?
We need the feature for a board we are working on.

@jorge_garcia Can you update the bug please? It's been nearly a year for a pretty critical feature, and what seems like a simple bug...

Hi @rbeyerCLBSZ ,

I've bumped this again with the developers, so far no news. I'll let you know what I hear back.
