FYI on possible bug in list for when doing replace of a part

This is an FYI for your team of a case where a lib part name shows up wrong but only in the list being used to replace a part.  The functionality of the lib part in my lib and on part replace works it is just that there seem to be garbage characters ONLY seen in the list when selecting a part to replace.

LibPartnameInReplaceListWrongButWorks.jpg

The attached bitmap on left shows the part but with extra text after it's name.

I then select this part and from then on the name is correct in usage.

This may be because the list used for showing possible replacements may have gotten corrupted by junk characters (that are readable but not part of the lib part name).

Hi @mjstn2011 ,

I hope you're doing well. So this is actually by design and it occurs because of the use of the * in the component name. The asterisk is a placeholder that is replaced by the variant you select of the component. The replace dialog shows the full name with the * replaced by the CAP_KCM55_MUR-M.

That's all that's going on. The replace and update dialogs have not been updated to use the new style of the Place parts panel so they look and behave just as they did in EAGLE.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
