Footprint pad array 4 sides

Is it possible to create a pad array with 4 sides

When I select either SMD or PTH pad array tools, it starts with left and right selected, top and bottom are grayed out. If I deselect left and right, I can select top or bottom, but then left and right are greyed out. Am I missing something?

Hi @duncanBC5DV,

I hope you're doing well. It sounds like you want to use all 4 sides. Currently the array commands don't support 4 sided footprints.

I'll make a ticket for this so that this can be improved. For now if you need a 4 sided footprint you can run the current array functions twice. You are not missing anything.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks for the prompt reply @jorge_garcia

I must say I'm still a little bit concerned as to how this feature was released without supporting 4 sides, it brings the validation testing into question, perhaps you can pass that on to your colleagues.

Any movement on this issue @jorge_garcia ? It's been 8 months. I tried to run the 2-sided pin array twice and got some very strange results:

It has been two years now since I lodged this request. Has there been any progress? @jorge_garcia

Hi @duncanBC5DV ,

I hope you're doing well. Nothing has changed on this front. This hasn't been prioritized because you can achieve this footprint and more using the package generator. In any case I'll bump the ticket for this request.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thank you @jorge_garcia, when was this feature introduced? Was it publicised? I don't recall reading it in any of the news updates.

Hello @duncanBC5DV ,

It's been around for a few years now. It was publicized but more in the context of making 3D models for library components. The package generator generates both the 3D model AND the 2D footprint. So you can get a very accurate footprint along with the 3D model. See this video for more info:
