Fusion 360 Update

Hi Everyone,

Im setting up the Fusion 360 Autoupdate Batch File. Just wondering, can this be set up from any computer, or does it have to be a server? I ask as The batch file requires you to save the batch file in this location:  "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\webdeploy\meta\"

The only way il have that location is if Fusion is installed. Dont want to install Fusion on one of our servers really. Server also doesnt meet compatibility requirements for this Auto Download Fusion 36 Update.

The Auto-Downloads for Windows computers section 6 (page 14)is meant to run on Windows computers. In the instructions there is a section that discusses how to download the update and have multiple computers use the same download. But the script will stream the update to each Windows computers.

Here is a section from the PDF. Copy and paste this script into Notepad. In the Advanced Fusion 360 Lab Installation Instructions article, see page 15.

That's exactly what I did. I followed the instructions on page 14.

I am an administrator, but maybe I need to log on to a PC as a Domain Admin so it deploys. Il try that and let you know.

Yes please try running the script as an Admin. To schedule the task to run the script, the user must have administrator rights. Users without administrator rights will not be able to complete these steps.

Im afraid this didnt do it.

I have to launch the script from each individual PC for it to install.

Sorry for the confusion. Correct the script needs to be run from the local computer as an Admin.

I'm not an IT Admin, but I wonder if a tool like PowerShell may be able to help? Please let us know what you find out as it could help other schools.

Hi Dan,

i have been banging my head on the wall with this as there are constant updates to Fusion. All the above didn't work and so as to get the job done, i did it individually. The problem now is that the new updates are saving in the users appdata. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\b4885f4229f39fee5ad2bce82f309e671e5c9ccd

As we're on a network with many users, this is obviously an issue as other users wont have access to the launcher. 

How can I get around this? any particular installer i need so it updates on the C:\Program Files as it used to rather than local appdata? or anyway of specifying where to install into?

Hi Dan, 

Ok so the Update Batch File, installs on the C:\Program Files and the Fusion 360 CLient Downloader, installs it in the localuser appdata.

Glad i cleared that up (for myself at least)

Its just about getting that batch file to run on all machines rather than just the one im launching it from.

I sent the batch file from a deployment service I have. 

Not sure why it doesnt install from 1 Pc to all others but i manged a way around it.
