Surface bodies have two colors. A front or normal side, and a backside. Solid bodies are colored differently, either by the material or by applying an appearance color.

I can't tell entirely if you you have a mix of solids and surfaces. In the component you have expanded, I can only see surface bodies. You can try to use the stitch command from the modify menu to turn everything into a solid. I can't guarantee the results without seeing the rest of the data in the file. If you want, you can post the file and let us know what you want you final result to be.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi @charlescooke58 My apologies. I started working on this and then got distracted and it fell off my radar.

What is your goal for this project? To end up with a solid when you are done? I tried some things like copying all of your surfaces to a common folder and then stitching them together. They didn't stitch at the default tolerance. Most of the seams showed in red meaning they wouldn't be closed when the stitch command was completed.

Let me know your goal for this design and we'll see if we can come up with some ways to get you what you want.

Hi Kevin.
My goal is to build a model boat out of this as a project. The skin is used
to cut out the formers, but I agree parts are not matching as I would like
but I have cut the formers. The different colours is not an issue other
than I would like it looking the same and I notice this happens when I am
lofting patching etc everything is grey on the outside and gold inside,
except a piece will have gold outside. I'm just wondering if I am doing
something wrong. I notice also the formers still show through the skin
after the split body.
Cheers Charles

Hi @charlescooke58

Have you tried to apply an Appearance (press the A key) and then drag an appearance onto a component  or an individual faces as shown in the following image?

Does this help?

Hi Dan.

I just want to know why when patching ,lofting etc. The usual is grey on the outside and gold on the inside. But one part is opposite, those are the 2 colours that are associated with these actions. just wondering if maybe my actions are wrong and is there a way to get them same other than the method that you mentioned, which I am aware of. If it is just what it does then I just change the appearance way.

Hi @charlescooke58

You may be seeing the faces with a different light applied to them. When you change the viewpoint, only your perspective is changing, the bodies stay constant to their current location. Below is a screen capture of the same surfaces, just from different perspectives.

Does this help?

when in surface mode and I patch, loft, sweep there only two colours, Gold inside and grey outside on my computer, even when I watch videos of how To's I see the same thing. I have also just used the apearance method to colour the differant components differant colours for identification purposes, But when I finished it changes everything to the same colour.

Hi @charlescooke58

Can you share a video that shows the different colors of the faces?

To automictically show components in different colors, you can use the Component Color Swatch option. This option is located on the lower-right corner of the screen and click on the Gear > Component Color Swatch

Hi Dan sorry i didn't realize you responded. I don't know how to take a video, but I have taken another Screenprint. Now I applied appearance to the drawing and it appears that the gold does not change color only the grey which says to me there is something wrong with my drawing. The hull and the keel was grey and the colors applied outside but the upper deck and pilot the colors were applied to the inside.

Hi @charlescooke58

Good news. I was able to duplicate your issue. By selecting the Reverse Normal tool, it shows the gold faces that displaying the negative side of the surface. If desired, you can unstitch the surfaces and change their normal individually.

Thanks for that Dan now I know because gold does not change colour only grey, I take it that to "reverse normal" a component must be all same color otherwise I must unstitch and get it same color.
