I recently made a video showing a screw gear modeling from scratch, fully parametric.
A screw gear is the generic gear for most cylindrical gears. So to obtain a worm gear you have to set very few teeth/threads (down to 1) and a big helix angle (up to 80°-85°) to a "templated" screw gear.
(please, note that is might be quite advanced modeling)
