Working with SVG Files

I am making some sheet metal coasters with an SVG file using a plasma cutting table.

I imported an SVG from Illustrator. I modified some lines. Now the lines that I modified won't show as black for cutting. The holes show up, which I did not modify.

You should be able to use that exactly the way it is.

Bring your sketch geometry into the manufacturer workspace. Make sure your sketch is not hidden.

When you bring up your 2D profile menu you should be able to select your geometry there there is some nuance to selecting all the individual little lines that make up one line so it cuts as one line.

If you posted your file I can walk you through the steps.

Is this similar of how it turns out in F360 for you?

With no constants, no measurements , no extrude you should be able to generate tool paths like I did here with only sketch geometry.

Split into 3 operations.

it is 4 x4 inch but I did not define any dimensions in the sketch. did enter a z height in manufacture set up.

Maybe there is something off with your SVG . post it and lets find out.

I will give this a try. My frustration is that I only use my Langmuir machine a few times a year and Fusion 360 changes so much that the terminology changes. The original Langmuir videos are almost irrelevant now.

Go on to langmuirs forums and post on there post your SVG as well and I'll walk you through the whole thing.

I also own a langmuir crossfire pro.

You'll be able to find my avatar on there pretty unmistakable.

If you give me the parameters for the plasma torch you'd like to run I could just post a NC file and at least you could get this project behind you

I did modify this image some the clearances felt too tight to be producible.

One quick question, when you were selecting the blue lines for the 2D profile, a little "box" popped up after you picked the first part of each line. What is that?

Hi,

You can also select the sketch completely.

Then you don't have to click on individual lines.

Here is the box you are describing ? 

it gives you some options when selecting individual lines. 

You can select this blue line 

and you could continue to select these path segments.( they will cut individually too )

Or

Double click that line (path) piece 

now each piece you select will join together and cut as one path

Or double click again and it will select all the path that is connected  ( I prefer this )

typically when making these kinds of cuts you also also want to set your Side ways Compensation to Center

And also select no lead in or lead out and pierce to Clearance to Zero in in this menu.

Split up your cutting operations for your best success.

Group like operations. 

Please post some pictures when you cut these.

How does that separated The chosen paths into two operations ?some that are center cutting and some that are left sideways compensation cutting like my example above?

Easier to compare the two methods when they have the same outcome.

I'm also wondering because you're using a different post processor in your setup because you're doing carving, if it might the link and select differently than the post processor used for the langmuir systems plasma table?

For different operations, the sketch in design mode must be separated into partial sketches accordingly.

I do not use any PP.

in your setup because you're doing carving,

I have shown a TRACE operation and not an ENGRAVE.

Instead of TRACE you can also use CONTOUR:
