Hi all, second post from my side as I'm slowly progressing in learning this wonderful software.

So here's my question;

Let's say I want to build a table with four legs. I create a leg component and I make duplicates. These are then parametric and so far so good. If I want to start sketching a tenon or a mortise, these will only reflect on that single component where they are sketched and not on the copies.

I undestand that this sketch belongs to that single component and not the copies and I'm sure there's a valid reason for this. But....is there a workaround to solve this issue? I tried to mirror but same result.

The only thing I can think at the moment is to draw the joinery on the leg component before I make copies?

Thank you for your attention and please see the attached file.

Regards,

Luca

If you right click on a component in the browser and select Copy from the menu, then right click in the design background you will get two options, Paste and Paste New.  Paste will give you a true copy of the component which is associatively hooked to the original.  If you drill a hole in the original, the hole will appear in the copy.  If you use the Paste New option the copied component is an entirely new component that carry the features of the original component at the time of copy but will not change if the original is changed, it is un-associative.

This should be the preferred route.
In this case you can still drag the sketch into the component to achieve the same effect.

Hello, I did a couple of trials and it works with both methods.

Thank you,
