Wonder how to create these kind of letters

Hi there

I'm trying to design something similar like this: LED Light Letters "Why not?" by dukedoks - Thingiverse

Now I'm wondering how I can efficiently make sure my 'bottom part of the letter' has this indent (3D Printed LED Marquee Letters / Anet A6 / Letras LED impresas en 3D - YouTube - 18s, I know it's different software):

This indent will make the 'flat' letters clip easily together:

I can think of a very labor intense way to do it but it would be great if you guys could teach me a more efficient way :).

Thanks a lot!

import the font / line art from whatever vector based software dxf/ svg and the rest you can do which sketch offsets. but you need clean lines/curves 🙂

et voila

You'd do that very similarly.

Create a sketch with text, picking a font you like.

Extrude the text and us the Shell function to hollow the letters.

Then you'd create two offset planes and use Split Face to split the inside wall faces of the letters and then use the Offset Face tool to create the little lip, the inset lid sits on.

Then creating the lid should be straight forward.
