Why not Extrude from closed Sketch Curves?

Hello there,

The design intent is to model as quickly as possible many components from a sketch with ultimate goal of nesting them using the Arrange feature. I was excited to see that you can have a selection filter for sketch curves but I can't figure out how to extrude from those sketch curves.  The other hopeful benefit was that I can avoid the extra work of splitting bodies.

See attached demo video.

My current (working) workflow requires a lot of selecting and deselecting of profiles and splitting bodies. It is very tedious and error prone.

I hoping that I'm missing some other workflow that you might know of. 🤔

Thin Extrude would save you a lot of modeling time as well as time to extrude individually.

Thanks @etfrench,  You mean use thin extrude to cut bodies,  correct?

Here's my failed first attempt.... I'm hoping for a way to select all the closed sketch curves at once. Maybe I'm missing something?

Thin extrude seems to have some strange rules for selections😀 If you select all of the lines, it will only extrude the perimeter.  If you select the inner lines then a perimeter line, all of the lines can be extruded in one feature.  Drawing a single line instead of double will also work better.

Window select the curves you need to Extrude.

Extrude as a surface does not require profiles.

(Not tried it for grid lines)

Might help….

All good suggestions above thank you.

(I made another post with the same problem but asking a different question.)
