Why displacement Loading in Fusion Simulation is still not there?

Hello everyone,

If I want to give a member some displacement and simulate the effect how I can I do it? In other software this comes under basic loading conditions. But here we don't have such facilities. Please! please! add this too.

Enter a prescribed displacement.

In what other software? Please cite your sources of information to aid in recommending equivalent techniques in Fusion.

Thankyou sir! @TheCADWhisperer for the solution. and I had used displacement loading in ANSYS student but I just saw it's under support option. Sorry for that Smiley Happy

I applied a positive displacement on the spring but it failed. Please look at error after I applied the displacement . I'm still confused that it really works. Screenshot (7).pngScreenshot (8).png

Hello sir @TheCADWhisperer,

I've attached the .f3d file of extension spring. I want to give displacement at other face so that the spring will extend. Please have a look and suggest me where I've to correct my approach for simulation.

Please find the attachment.

Can you describe the Design Intent for your Analysis - what, exactly, do you want to know about the spring?

FEA.png

You have too many constraints on your spring.  You cannot have the right end Fixed and Prescribed displacement simultaneously - this is real world logic.

How is the spring held in real world assembly?

It is common in FEA to use Split Face to split the contact faces to other mechanism components as shown in image above.

Fusion linear static FEA is limited to relatively minor displacements - I did .5mm in example above.  20mm would not be "relatively minor".

Fusion linear static FEA is not for "springy" material properties.

Thank you sir @TheCADWhisperer,

I had to design a extension spring of a specific free length as there was a constraint of space. one end is attached to a bolt and at the another and there is a member which pulls the spring with a known displacement.

It's easy to give displacement lading rather than calculating spring stiffness and force calculation smileytongue: That's why I was using displacement loading.

Yes you're right. This springy thing is not linear static analysis type. I changed to nonlinear and It worked. thanks again. I splitted the face and applied the prescribed displacement. I got the solutions. Have a look please.
