Hello. I am having a lot of trouble finding a solution to my problem. I have shared a drawing at https://a360.co/2LiOdZq. It is a casting for a mold. It's hollow on the top but solid on the bottom.... filled in. I want to shell the bottom. I'm pretty flexible but haven't found any approaches that actually work. Every one of them hits an error and Fusion just fails.
Attempts I've made, where Fusion has failed.
- Simply use the shell feature to shell the bottom face to a 2mm remaining thickness. F360 fails with error.
- Use an existing face matching the bottom of the inside of the mold to cut the body of the mold 2mm lower than the surface of the inside bottom of the mold. F360 fails to do the cut with an error.
- Use another body that is the shape of the part to be shelled out and do a combine/cut to do the shelling. Cut works but leaves gaps. Both Press/Pull and Loft fail with errors when attempting to close the gaps.
Sometimes it is so frustrating to deal with F360 because the features simply result in errors... the dreaded red circle X. It seems any time I am trying to use time saving features (like shell or press pull, cut) with complex shapes.
Any other ideas would be appreciated or confirmation that there is a bug here.
Thanks for any help all.
